Hello!
I’m in the studio this afternoon, staring out the window and drinking coffee and not getting much done. Usually in my diary, here I’ll write a list of things that I have actually done, to make myself feel less guilty for taking the day slowly, but also to make myself feel more guilty for not doing the big thing I had planned for the afternoon. It doesn’t help me get it done. There are two fluffy seeds caught in the cobwebs outside my painted-shut window, shining in the sunlight and gently moving like they’re trying to get away. Maybe they don’t need to get away, really. Maybe they’re allowed to spend the day watching who’s going by on the street outside – fellow Hawickites Teries, patrons of the kebab shop, other fluffy seeds floating free on the air.
The thing I’m supposed to be doing this afternoon is telling people about an exhibition I’ve got some work in, which is opening on Saturday. I’m probably going to get there late, because I’m going to try to do a 5k park run and then a pride parade before it starts. It’ll be fine. Probably.
So anyway, the exhibition. It’s with Print & Page. We’re a group of artists who work in print and books, and things generally on paper, although not exclusively. It’s a nice club to be in, and it seems to not mind that I’m not always very active in the group, as long as I mostly do what I said I’d do. I think I did that. Probably.
I’ve got 4 mixed-media prints / drawings in the exhibition. They’re little drawings of polaroid photos, on top of mono-prints of bits of woodland like leaves and stuff. They’re small, quick things, grabbing at something I’m not sure they reach about the shapes and the patterns in my favourite patch of ancient woodland.

There’s also always loads of other stuff at the museum to see, and a nice little cafe across the park by the river. The park is super nice, go and enjoy it!
