6/9/24 (trial and error)

Hello readers,

Feels like it’s been a while, but maybe it hasn’t? I’ve been prioritising things other than pictures and words over the last couple of months. tldw (too long didn’t write?) is that life is fragile and the NHS is staffed by saints. Also a blood donor saved the life of one of my favourite people in the world last month, so I’m now allowed to be even more annoying about how important and wonderful giving blood is. It’s worth checking out even if you’re not sure you can, because they do update the rules, and also they give you biscuits. Links at the bottom of the page for Scotland/England 🍪

I treated myself to a Polaroid I-2 recently – it’s basically the fanciest Polaroid camera ever made, it has a proper (not plastic) lens, and fully adjustable settings. It talks to my phone! I’ve been out and about in the woods experimenting with it, and trying to get into my head which way around the numbers for the aperture and shutter speed go, so I can not be one of those people who get a fancy camera and only ever use it on auto (I’ve been one of those people for a very long time). Anyway, this isn’t really a photography blog, so less chat about picture taking. Here’s some photos:
Don’t you think they look more grownup without the frames around them? like once they’re scanned, they look ungainly with this area of white and my notes about the date and the settings.

These are two that came out overexposed, but I’ve been playing with them in affinity photo to see whether they could be rescued. I’m pleased with the reflections in the one on the left, and the one on the right is the first tree I took a photo with on my first polaroid a couple of years ago.
